- The area of working of a modem is large because it uses a Wide area network (WAN) to operate. Whereas, The working area of the router is comparatively low because it uses a Local area network (LAN) to operate.
- A modem helps to relay the signals to Comcast, Verizon, At&T, and many other internets services providers to your house and office. It converts the analog signals of the internet into digital signals of the internet.
- A router is a type of networking device which helps to distribute your internet connections from the modem to all other devices connected with them like Mobile phones, laptops, Smart TVs, and many others.
- The types of modem attain DSL (Digital Subscriber line), ISDN (Integrated services digital network). Whereas, the routers are available in many types buy 2 are the most popular which are 1. Wired routers 2. Wireless routers.
- The major function of the router is to maintain the traffic between networking devices. The major work of modem is to modulate and demodulate from the ISP’s network to your device.
